Copenhagen - sight-seeing |
|
|
|
Copenhagen, Denmark's capital and Scandinavia's liveliest city, has a population of 1,7 million. Copenhagen was founded in 1167 and has been Denmark's capital since 1417. Copenhagen is also the seat of Denmark's government.
In Copenhagen you will find a lot of museums and sights telling about Danish history. You will also find a lot of cultural activities/events and excellent shopping facilities.
For teams attending the Children’s Climate Call we have arranged a sight-seeing tour on Friday, May 1 (please see Teams – Programme for details on pick-up times from hotels/hostels). Among others you will have the chance to say “Hello” to the famous Little Mermaid.
If you plan to extend your visit to Copenhagen and would like some inspiration on what to see and do, check out Visit Copenhagen.
Many of you will probably want to visit the Tivoli Gardens. We have made a special deal with Tivoli. So if you present your Children’s Climate Change lanyard/name badge you will get in at the following prices:
- Admission per day: DKK 65 (children below 12 years: DKK 45)

- Admission and multi-ride ticket: DKK 190 (all ages)
Getting around in Copenhagen is easy.
The city has a well developed network of trains, busses and Metro. The Copenhagen Card (CPHCARD) gives you free entry to about 60 museums and attractions (including Tivoli Gardens) throughout the Greater Copenhagen Region. Furthermore, the card gives you free transport by train, bus and Metro.
We have made a special deal for you with Wonderful Copenhagen, so if you present your Children’s Climate Call lanyard/name badge at the Tourist Information Office at Vesterbrogade 4A, 1577 Copenhagen V (it is located right behind the central railway station/across from the Tivoli Gardens and is within walking distance from your hotel/hostels) you will get a 10% discount on the CHPCARD, so your prices would be:
- 24 hours children’s card (10 – 15 years): DKK 103.50
- 24 hours adults’ card (16 years+ :) DKK 202.50
- 72 hours children’s card (10-15 years): DKK 202.50
- 72 hours adults’ card (16 years+): DKK 405.00.
You can bring along 2 children (0-9 years) for free with an adult CPHCARD.
